She will discuss how to properly expose your beach photos to save on editing time and then transform a black night into magic with the power of her lights! (Session with extend past sunset for backlit experience)
      • Amy Vecchio | @capturedsimplicity | Underwater, Children, Maternity | Learn from the underwater photography queen at this hands-on underwater experience! Whether you have already been dabbling or if you are just thinking about underwater photography, join Amy for first hand ins and outs of this art, including options for gear, how to get a variety of shots and how to guide your subjects.  (Will meet prior to 6:30pm for better underwater light; Attendees must provide own underwater gear)
      • Amber Talbert | @ambertalbertphotography | Outdoor, Children & Tweens | The Depth ,The Texture, The Sparkle: Water and Light, each with its own distinct and fundamental place in creating connection, elating mood and transcending a feeling that moves beyond  a beautiful frame. In this  shoot along, Amber will take you on a seaside study of fusing water and light creating a dramatic superpower. Learn to utilize manual exposure to foster soulful and energizing imagery in any type of light. Learn to study locations and anticipate the nature of your surroundings and how to use natural surface to manipulate and reflect light.
      • Courtney Bowles | @courtneyathome | Outdoor, Single Child | Courtney will work her magic capturing a single child at a park overlooking the water. She will be demonstrating how to shoot for composites and portraits.
      • Shelby Zavala | @in_thislight | Outdoor, Single Child | Shelby will photograph a family on the beaches of South Carolina and teaching her golden hour tips and tricks.
      • Emma Smith | @lifehasbroughtmehere | Outdoor, Family | Emma will guide your through a family session utilizing golden hour light and the environment to create beautiful images.
    • Photographers registering on or after October 9, 2018, will enjoy an "Inspire Walk," a downtown street photography session with a focus on macro photography led by Emily Hamson | @em.hamson. Registrants may also upgrade the standard schedule for the early bird schedule - details on the registration page.

Saturday, April 27th

  • 10am & 11am: Breakout Sessions #1 and #2 (Registrants select one per time slot, for a total of two 45 minute morning breakouts. Available on first come, first served basis.)
    • Amber Talbert | @ambertalbertphotography | Water, Wind & Light: Amber will teach you how to authentically include the environmental elements of water, wind, and light with your subject and to effectively identify the quality of light and use metering in camera to create dynamic images that pop. She will help you explore these components to create connections in front of the camera and beyond.
    • Candice Gleason | @candice_gleason_photography | Photography Made Simple Using Artificial Light: Join Candice as she walks you through how she creates her mesmerizing photographs with artificial lighting tips & tricks.
    • Emma Smith | @lifehasbroughtmehere | Confident in Low Light: Emma will walk you through how she uses artificial light to create bold portraits.
    • Jamie Olsen | @jamieolsen7 | Incorporating Emotions into Your Photography: How to use the scene around you to create emotive moments.
    • Nicole Kost | @nicolepkost | The Beauty of Nature: When she is not capturing her daughter, Nicole loves to capture nature. Join Nicole to learn how she captures the beauty of nature. Composition and light will be discussed as well as how and why Nicole chooses what details to capture. Learn tips and tricks to use for nature photography.
    • Stephanie Bryan | @stephaniebryan | For the Love of Film: Stephanie will be talking her favorite subject - film! Whether you're film-curious or a seasoned pro, there will something in this breakout for you.

  • 3pm & 4pm: Editing Sessions #1 and #2 (Registrants select one per time slot, for a total of two 45 minute editing sessions. Available on first come, first served basis.)

    • Courtney Bowles | @courtneyathome | Follow along as Courtney demonstrate how she creates composites in Photoshop.
    • Helen Whittle | @helenwhittlephotography | Helen will demonstration how she processes her black and white images to create emotive portraits.
    • Kristen Ryan | @kristenryanphotography | Our resident landscape expert will walk you through editing an environmental image from start to finish.
    • Shelby Zavala | @in_thislight | Shelby will show you how to transform any image into a golden hour beauty.
    • Amy Vecchio | @capturedsimplicity | No more blue tinted skin! Amy will edit underwater images and give you the tools to create beautiful underwater images in post-processing.
  • 5pm: Vendor Visits & Dinner Break
  • 6:30pm: Evening Shoot Alongs (available on first-come, first-served basis) 
    • Meg Loeks | @meg_nlo | Outdoor, Siblings | Nostalgia: a sentimental longing or wistful affection for the past. It's a powerful thing and can be deeply rooted into photography. In this shoot along Meg will focus on the simpler things in life and explore ways to photograph subjects without a lot of props... just the ones that nature provides. You will study how to frame and layer your images to enhance depth and interest. Learn how to carefully observe and utilize your environment while capturing the magic and wonder of childhood. Lastly, Meg will demonstrate ways to photograph connection between siblings, and also how to creatively capture parallel play.
    • Jamie Olsen | @jamieolsen7| Indoor, Family | Jamie will capture a family indoors during a lifestyle session. She will focus on maximizing the scene around you and incorporating emotional elements of your subjects. She will also teach you how the dynamic of using layers will help you create storytelling images.
    • Nicole Kost | @nicolepkost | Urban, Single Child | Learn how to use color and composition effectively to make your subject pop in the beautiful setting of Downtown Charleston with a girl model. Nicole will give you all her tips and tricks on how she uses these two elements in her work. You will learn how to draw the viewer’s interest to your subject and use the environment to create mindful compositions.
    • Stephanie Bryan | @stephaniebryan | Urban, Family | If you are interested in film, this is the place for learning Stephanie's tips and tricks. She will show you how she uses film to capture images during a family session in downtown Charleston.
    • Courtney Bowles | @courtneyathome | Outdoor, Couple | Courtney will be flexing her wedding photographer skills in capturing intimate, unposed images of a couple at a beautiful outdoor historic location.
    • Helen Whittle | @helenwhittlephotography | Indoor, Single Child | In this indoor session, Helen will demonstrate how she works with children and light to create emotive portraits.
    • Kristen Ryan | @kristenryanphotography | Landscape | Kristen will lead you with her landscape eye through Waterfront Park and will help you nail camera settings to capture a sharp frame and well exposed frame and teach you how to use compositional elements and perspectives to create an image with depth. She will also chat about lens choice and varying focal lengths for unique images of the same scene. 

Sunday, April 28th

  • 9am: Q&A Panel with Instructor Photographers | If you still have those burning questions to ask your favorite photographers, now is the chance to get your answer! We will gather for a back-and-forth conversation all about all things photography, work-life balance and everything in between. Shalonda, Stephanie, Jamie, Nicole, and Amber will be sitting on our panel.
  • 10am & 11am: Breakout Sessions #3 and #4 (Registrants select one per time slot, for a total of two 45 minute Sunday breakouts. Available on first come, first served basis.)
    • Amy Vecchio | @capturedsimplicity | Underwater Ask Amy Anything: Amy will be discussing underwater photography and will be overviewing the editing process for underwater images.
    • Courtney Bowles | @courtneyathome | Business: What I Learned By Doing Everything Wrong: From contracts and pricing, burn out and too much “yes”, to imitation vs inspiration - here’s what Courtney has learned in the last 10 years as her business has grown.
    • Helen Whittle | @helenwhittlephotography | Black and White Portraits: Creating Mood and Emotion With Dramatic Light: Helen will talk all about the power of black and white photography, including how she uses available light and simple editing techniques to create emotive child portraits.
    • Kristen Ryan | @kristenryanphotography | Capturing the World: Intro to Landscape Photography: Do you ever feel like your landscape and travel photos fail to capture the scene as you saw it? Do they lack the interest and ‘wow’ that you see in front of you? In this breakout, we will cover the basics of landscape photography that will get you translating the scene from your eye to your lens. Learn how to get a sharp frame from foreground to background and how to capture detail in the entire dynamic range.  We will talk about compositional elements, varying perspectives and creating depth to bring your landscape photography to the next level. 
    • Meg Loeks | @meg_nlo | Editing with Meg: Follow along as Meg shares her editing process and how she adds to her storytelling images with her post-processing techniques.
    • Shelby Zavala | @in_thislight | Capturing Golden Hour: Tips and tricks for shooting in the beloved but sometimes frustrating golden hour.
